Students take wellness
to the streets

A healthy body supports a healthy mind — and our students carried that message proudly through the community.

There is a particular kind of energy on the morning of the Health Walk. Long before the first whistle, students gather in their sports kit, banners are unfurled, and the courtyard fills with the sound of excited chatter. This year was no different.

Carrying a banner that read “Essay Model Schools on Health Walk”, our students, teachers and a good number of parents set off together through the surrounding streets. The walk is more than a morning of exercise — it is a moving lesson, one that takes the things we teach in class about health, discipline and community and puts them on their feet.

A healthy body and a healthy mind are not two separate goals. They grow together — and so do the children who pursue both.

Why we walk

Each year the Health Walk reminds our school family of a simple truth: learning is not only what happens at a desk. Movement, fresh air and shared effort build the kind of stamina and self-discipline that serve a child in every exam hall and every challenge beyond school.

It is also a chance for our students to be seen — proudly, visibly — as members of a community that cares for its own wellbeing and the wellbeing of those around it. Neighbours waved, younger children pointed, and every one of them walked a little taller for it.

A whole-school effort

From our youngest primary classes to our senior secondary students, everyone had a part to play. Older students helped marshal the younger ones, staff kept spirits high, and by the time the walk looped back to campus, there was that satisfying tiredness that only a morning well spent can bring.

Events like these are woven into life at Essay Model Schools because we believe character is built in motion — in showing up, keeping pace, and finishing what you start. We look forward to next year's walk already.
